Jeff Zahratka is a sensory neuroscientist and geneticist primarily concerned with the regulation of neuronal excitability through the modulation of the calcium signalling pathway in sensory neurons though calcium indicators, optogentic channels and the fluorescent voltage indicator VSFP-Butterfly.

As the lead researcher ar IAI, Zahratka ‘s current research is focused around the dysregulation of neuronal function in Alzheimer’s disease (AD) probing gene expression and regulation in human brain tissue, and is developing a drug screening platform using human induced pluripotent stem cells to find actionable targets to combat the symptoms of AD.
